IN MEMORIUM – R. IAN PEPPER

It is with profound sadness the Canadian Independent Adjusters’ Association (CIAA) announces the passing of R. Ian Pepper, FIIC, CLA, FCIAA on November 18, 2025.

Ian served as National President of CIAA in 1993-94, with exceptional dedication, professionalism, and commitment.  Among his many contributions, he played a pivotal role in establishing the Association’s Mission Statement as well as strengthening our Code of Ethics – enduring elements of his legacy.  In recognition of his tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to advancing the independent adjusting profession, Ian was awarded the prestigious CIAA Honorary Life Membership, one of the Association’s highest distinctions.

Throughout his tenure, Ian fostered a spirit of camaraderie, inclusion and genuine connection.  He was known for creating memorable and motivating experiences for his executive team – whether hosting a meeting aboard a boat or welcoming colleagues into his home for an evening of fellowship, warmth, and an outstanding meal.  His leadership left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

A true gentleman in every respect, Ian will be deeply missed by his family, friends and colleagues.  His legacy of integrity, kindness, and service will continue to inspire the CIAA community for years to come.
