On July 1, 2018 Bill C-45 comes into effect, creating new risks for insurers including property, product liability, commercial and social host, and motor vehicle liability. The emerging permissiveness of cannabis usage are inadequately addressed by the legislation and regulations. Risks are compounded by inaccurate THC/blood concentration technology and poorly understood interactions with drugs and mental disorders.
