Nova Scotia

Level 1 - Probationary Adjuster

Submit a completed application, which must be signed by an officer or partner of a Level V Licensee, an adjusting firm, indicating that the licensee has agreed to sponsor this individual’s license application.
Submit a signed Level I Adjuster Agreement.
Successfully complete the Insurance Institute of Canada course C11 (Principles and Practices of Insurance).
Pay the licensing fee

Level II - Assistant Adjuster

Submit a completed application.
Submit a signed Level II Adjuster Agreement.
Successfully complete the Insurance Institute of Canada courses C12 (Insurance Property Part I), C14 (Personal Automobile Insurance) and C110 (Essentials of Loss Adjusting).
Pay the licensing fee.
Establish eligibility to hold a Level I licence.

Level III - Adjuster

Submit a completed application form.
Submit a Level III Adjuster Agreement.
Pay the licensing fee.
Successfully complete the Insurance Institute of Canada courses C13 (Insurance Against Liability) and C111 (Advanced Loss Adjusting).
Establish eligibility to hold a Level II License.

Level IV - Independent Adjuster

Submit a completed application form.
Pay the licensing fee.
Successfully complete the Insurance Institute of Canada courses C32 (Bodily Injury Claims) and C112 (Practical Issues in Claims Management).
Establish eligibility to hold a Level III License.
Have a minimum of two years practical experience as a Level II or III licensee, or both.

Level V - Partnership or Corporate Adjuster License

Submit a completed application form signed by an officer or partner.
Payment of licensing fee.
Submit a list of the individuals holding a Level IV Adjuster License for each place of business of the applicant.
Any business entity making application for a Level V Adjuster License must be registered to do business with the Registry of Joint Stock Companies for the Province of Nova Scotia.
