Level I
Must have successfully completed one of the following:
Insurance Institute of Canada (IIC) courses C11 (Principles and Practices of Insurance)
or C-81 and C-82 (General Insurance Essentials Parts 1 and 2).
Insurance Brokers Association of Canada courses CAIB I or Fundamentals of Insurance.
Non-residents who have not completed the Level I course must hold an adjuster’s
licence in another province.
In addition a Level I adjuster must:
- Work a minimum of 21 hours per week as an adjuster and be sponsored by a licenced Level IV Adjuster;
- Work only on behalf of their sponsor or the sponsor’s employer
- Work under the supervision of a Level III or IV adjuster who shall review and countersign any claim report or settlement offer submitted by the Level I licencee; and
- Complete the requirements to qualify for an Level II adjuster licence and apply for a Level II licence within a three-year period immediately following issue of the initial adjuster’s Level I licence.
- Equivalent qualifications acceptable to the superintendent
or
Level II
Must have successfully completed the following IIC courses:
C12 (Insurance on Property)
C14 (Automobile Insurance — Part I)
C110 (Essentials of Loss Adjusting) or C17 (Claims I).
In addition a Level II adjuster must:
- Be sponsored by the holder of a Level IV adjuster licence.
- Have two years experience as an adjuster.
- Equivalent qualifications acceptable to the superintendent
or
Level III
Must have successfully completed the following IIC courses: C13 (Insurance Against
Liability — Part I) C111 (Advanced Loss Adjusting) or C33 (Insurance on Property
— Part II) C112 (Practical Issues in Claims Management)
In addition a Level III adjuster must:
- Be sponsored by the holder of a Level IV adjuster licence.
- Have three years experience as an adjuster.
- Equivalent qualifications acceptable to the superintendent
or
Level IV
Must have successfully completed the Level I to III courses and the AIIC or CIP
Designation and have three years experience as an adjuster.
or
Equivalent qualifications acceptable to the superintendent
