The high adjusting standards both in education and experience, which are promoted within the IFAA, are in a large part due to the rigid standards enforced by the member associations..

The IFAA will be launching an Accreditation Program for individual members who are members of one of IFAA’s nine member Institutes/Associations on April 1, 2005.

The IFAA has agreed to accept as “Fellows” (the title of an IFAA accredited claims person) any person who has the written support of an IFAA member (e.g. CIAA) who has qualified to a certain standard within their own Institute/Association.

CIAA’s category of membership, “Level III" in adjusting meets the required standards for the accreditation and is outlined in our constitution as follows:

  2. Must successfully complete the following IIC courses:
    1. C 111 Advanced Loss Adjusting
    2. C 112 Practical Issues in Claims Management
    3. Elective CIP Course
    4. C 16 The Business of Insurance, or
  3. Must have attained their CIP/AIIC designation with the Insurance Institute of Canada, or hold a principal - "full" Independent Adjuster license in their primary - resident jurisdiction;

  5. No Level III, Level II, or Level I member shall use after their name any letters or words to indicate that they are a member, Level I, Level II, or Level III of the Association.

Advantages to obtaining the global accreditation include

  1. International recognition of competency and professional standards.
  2. Advance standing for entry to member Associations.
  3. Inclusion in international listings; e.g. Lloyd’s List website.
  4. Exchange of information.

Fellowship of the IFAA would incur an annual fee of $65.00, Canadian funds. The IFAA member Institute/Association for administration costs will retain a portion and the remainder will go to the IFAA.

Please visit the IFAA website, www.adjustersworldwide.org to review the IFAA Mission Statement, outline of core competencies and Code of Professional Conduct.
